The Secretary of State for Education the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP today officially opended Leicester’s first Hindu School, the Krishna Avanti School. Keith joined  Mr Gove for the opening ceremony today, which was attended by pupils, teachers and parents.

Minister for Education Rt Hon Michael Gove said:

“Free Schools like Krishna Avanti Primary are helping to raise standards across the country.  Krishna Avanti provides an inclusive education with a special Hindu ethos that is rightly very popular with parents. I am delighted to have this opportunity to meet the staff and children of Krishna Avanti with the Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP.”

 Keith said:

“This is the first for the City.  Leicester is the most multi-cultural city in Britain and I am delighted that, despite his busy schedule, Mr Gove came to our city.  I want to pay tribute to Krishna Avanti who fought long and hard to acquire this school and to remain as an education site next to the existing school of St Paul’s.  This is a symbol of what makes Leicester so special.”
