Keith Vaz was delighted to attend the ceremony by De Montfort University on Monday 29th August 2011 in which De Montfort University in Leicester conferred an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws on M.S. Dhoni, the captain of Indian World Cricket team. The event took place after the Leicestershire vs. India one day international.
Keith Vaz said:
“This was a great day for Leicester. 6,000 people showed up to watch a first class University honour a world class Captain, showing that the city is, to use Dhoni’s own words, a very special place.
India’s victory in Mumbai will remain as an iconic moment in the history of cricket and I hope that this great honour will be seen as recognition of that achievement.”
