Leicester City Council have pledged to install safety measures outside a school in Evington following Keith’s campaign after an road accident involving seven year old Charan Singh.
Charan, aged 7, was hit by a bus on his way to Linden Primary School and suffered a broken thigh.
In January, Keith launched a petition calling for the Council to introduce safety measures. They are to install simpler road markings and signs and flashing lights to warn drivers of the school.
“I am delighted that the Council have taken the initiative to protect our young children.
However, the incident involving Charan Singh should simply not have happened in the first place.
It is now up to the Council to ensure that they install the new safety features quickly, we cannot afford to have a repeat of Charan’s accident.
I will be keeping a very close eye on this to ensure that the work is completed as a matter of urgency.”
