Residents in a new housing estate in Hamilton were up in arms about developers’ wishes to foist an unwanted play area upon them so Keith called a residents meeting to meet concerned residents of Brompton Road and Padside Close about Bellway Homes’ proposals.

Residents had the opportunity to voice their fears about the detrimental effect of the play area on their properties and other local amenities, and the potential danger it may pose to local children. At the meeting the developers agreed to remove the play area in its unsuitable form and consult the local community on the future of the funding set aside for it.

Councillors Barbara Potter and Rita Patel were also in attendance, along with representatives from the Council and Bellway Homes.

Keith Vaz said:
“I am delighted that the developers have agreed to remove the wooden “objects” that purported to be the play area. It is right that local people should help decide where to spend the £6,000.”
