Keith and his wife Maria have launched a sensitive appeal to raise money for a peaceful, homely space for parents to deliver their stillborn baby.
The Leicester Baby Loss Appeal, led by Leicester Hospitals Charity, aims to raise £100,000 for a new bereavement delivery suite which will be based in the maternity department at Leicester General Hospital. The suite will include vital gases, en suite wet room, nursery and a courtyard garden away from the hustle and bustle of the main delivery area.
As part of the Appeal, the General’s Sahara Room will be updated. This room was originally funded by Mr and Mrs Vaz in 1994, in memory of their late daughter Sahara who was found to be stillborn following a routine scan. The area was designed as quiet space for staff to give parents the sad news.
