Keith recently took part in a two-day visit to Romania in his capacity as Chairman of the Home Affairs Committee. The Committee visited Bucharest between Monday 20 and Wednesday 22 May as part of its inquiry into transitional restrictions on the free movement of workers from Bulgaria and Romania, which will be lifted on 1 January 2014.

On the visit, the Committee met with a number of Romanian Minister and Parliamentarians to explore the economic and social factors that will affect the number of immigrants and the demographics of those who want to come to work in the UK.

The Committee also held an evidence session hosted by International Organization for Migration Romania to determine the economic, social and cultural reasons influencing the number of people seeing to work in the UK.
