Missed Breast Cancer Screening

Following the announcement from the Department for Health and Social Care that a number of women aged 68-71 were not sent their invitation to attend their final screening appointment.

Breast Cancer Now, a breast cancer charity, have examined figures and found that in Leicester East 399 women were affected by this issue. The Department for Health and Social Care have said that all women affected will be offered another screening.

Breast cancer screening is offered to women between the ages of 50-70, every three years and has been shown to prevent 1,300 deaths from breast cancer each year.
