Official Renaming of Gratrix Centre

Keith attended the official renaming ceremony of the Thurnby Lodge, Youth and Community Centre. From today it will be known as Gratrix Centre. The name was chosen in honour of Allan Gratrix the former Councillor and Community activist.

Allan was born in Salford, Manchester He moved to Leicester at the age of 16. He married Pauline and they had two sons Steven and Andrew. He was dearly loved by his family and friends. Allan became a Councillor in 1976 and was the Chairman and Treasurer of the Community Association for many years. He was devoted to the people of Thurnby Lodge and worked tireless on their behalf Allan really was “Mr Thurnby Lodge” loved by the community for all the years he devoted to Thurncourt.

Local councillors Teresa Aldred and Paul Newcombe and local residents were present for this special occasion.
