Saying Goodbye to the Round Pound

Posted on September 19th, 2017 in Local News

On 28th March the Government introduced a new secure 12 sided pound coin, this was to reduce the costs of counterfeits to the taxpayers and businesses. It is being replaced after 30 long years of excellent service.

At midnight on Sunday 15th October shops and businesses will no longer accept the round pound and should not give these out as change.

Your pound coins will not become worthless however and you will still be able to deposit them into your bank account, if you have any questions you should contact your bank or building society.
