NHS and Public Health England are urging all patients and people this winter to stay well.
Especially if you are at risk from flu. Although anyone can get a flu jab if you:
-are 65 years of age or over
-are living in a long-stay residential care home or other long-stay care facility
-receive a carer’s allowance, or you are the main carer for an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if you fall ill.
-have certain medical conditions such as
-chronic heart disease
-chronic kidney disease
-chronic liver disease
-chronic neurological conditions
-being seriously overweight (BMI of 40 or above)
The flu vaccine is still the best protection against catching flu, which can be seriously debilitating. Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP says ‘I wish everyone in Leicester East well over the coming cold months and hope that you will continue to look after yourselves and others’.
