Thurnby United Football Club faces closure or relegation to a different league if their facilities are not repaired by the City Council. The Club use Willowbrook Activity Centre where the showers are out of order.

As a result, they have been told by the league that unless the showers work they will have to move from that premises or not play.

It is the responsibility of the Council to maintain the showers, but the Club’s requests for repair have so far been ignored.

Local MP Keith Vaz is outraged that the Council have repeatedly ignored Thurnby United Football Club and has written to the Council leader demanding the showers to be fixed.

Keith Vaz stated:

“Thurnby United Football Club provide a fantastic service for local people, looking after young people aged between 18 and 25 years. Local people deserve better services.”

“I am calling on the Council to fix the showers immediately so that the team can remain in the same league and carry on providing such an important role in the community.”
