UK financial and operational support for overseas drug operations

Since the publication of the Guardian’s article Britain’s £13m overseas war on drugs ‘could be helping fund executions’ on Sunday 9 August, Keith has received over 3000 emails from people across the UK on this matter.

Keith shares the concerns that have been raised about the UK’s financial and operational support for overseas drug operations. He will recommend when the Home Affairs Select Committee next meets in September that they look again at the findings and conclusions of the “Breaking the Cycle” report, published in December 2012, to see if the Home Office has fully complied with their recommendations.

Keith has written to the Home Secretary to ask her a number of questions on this subject. A copy of the letter will shortly be available on the Home Affairs Committee website (http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/home-affairs-committee/). The Home Secretary’s response, and other relevant information, will also be published on the Committee website.
