Vaz Demands CCTV Cameras in Humberstone

Leicester East MP Keith Vaz has met with residents of Humberstone and representatives from the City Council to launch a petition to clamp down on the increasing crime figures in the area.

It has been seven years since the residents first requested CCTV cameras in Humberstone Village. Each year there has been a new application that has had staunch backing from the police who has confirmed that when crime figures in Evington, Northfields and Humberstone were compared, Humberstone Village had the highest number. Residents have now been informed that Humberstone has been added to the CCTV waiting list.

Keith Vaz said:

“It is most unacceptable that the residents of Humberstone have had to wait for such a long time for cameras to be put up. Their safety has been violated and they do not longer feel safe. I fully support their campaign.”
